Welcome May!
Gardening season is upon us, so I thought it would be fun to post some weather lore. The definition of Lore is “The body of knowledge, especially of a traditional, anecdotal, or popular nature on a particular subject, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.”
Here’s a little fun to kick off May:
- Hard frost on the first day of May indicates a good harvest.
- A dry May and a leaky June makes the farmer whistle a happy tune
- Trace in the sky the painter’s brush and the winds around you will soon rush
- For every thunder with rain in February, there will be a cold spell in May
- A dry March and a wet May will fill the barns with corn and hay
I would love to hear your “Weather Lore” as well
